Summary of my experience and skills:

A passionate and versatile award-winning, multimedia journalist in the Central Florida area, currently serving as a Report for America Corps Member as a housing and homelessness beat reporter for WMFE 90.7, Orlando's NPR station.

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, with an mother who grew up in New York, I learned to become proficiently bilingual in English and Spanish in written, verbal and spoken forms. As a foreign American and avid traveler, I bring a globally-sensitive and cosmopolitan perspective to my work. Also, as a single mother who navigated life as a non-traditional student and survived the Central Florida housing crisis, my lived experiences give me a unique edge in telling the stories of our community members.

Professionally, I have built a reputation as someone who reaches and exceeds set goals. Some of my most recent accomplishments include winning the 2022 National Edward R. Murrow Award for Excellence in Digital Reporting with our team at University of Central Florida and WUCF, for the three-time award-winning piece, "The Road to Freedom Avenue: The Legacy of Harry T. and Harriette V. Moore," which I presented and produced. In 2021, I graduated UCF with a 4.0 GPA as a non-traditional student of journalism with a minor in writing and rhetoric and a certificate in Hispanic media. While there, I held 11 internships with local industry giants, such as WKMG News 6, WMFE 90.7, WUCF 89.9, NPR's Next Generation Radio, Spectrum News 13, and Orlando Weekly.

I am the Secretary of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists' Central Florida chapter, as well as a committee member on NPR's Next Generation Radio. I am an active member of the NAHJ, IRE, RTDNA, and ONA.

My skills include languages, reporting, writing across media platforms for print, digital, and broadcast audiences, data journalism, data visualization, audio and video recording and editing, photography and photo editing, social media, web design, SEO, content creation, content gathering, production for television news, podcasting, communications, public relations, and management.

My mission is to become involved in meaningful projects that help further the voices of our most vulnerable communities. This is not about having my name on a byline, my voice on the radio, or my face on TV — the work is done in earnest to a noble end, to serve public needs. I live by the obscure quote that "truth not brought to the service of humanity is a truth of no value." This is my calling.

My inspiration to platform ideas seldom heard on popular media was heavily influenced by the written works of Rodger Streitmatter, particularly his book "Mightier than the Sword," and by becoming a mother, which sent me to use my talents to help secure a just future for my child. I've found that telling stories through audio and digital platforms are my biggest passions in this industry.
